REFOUNDATIONS

Refundações (Refoundations) is a collective process of creating new interpretations of historical paintings  that depict moments of urban change in the Brazilian city of São Paulo, inviting the public of Museu Paulista to reimagine these episodes taking place in 2019 and, consequently, how the city would have evolved through these imaginary processes.
Throughout the year of 2019, Micrópolis held a series of public workshops with activists, artists and designers who represented social groups that have been historically excluded from the official narrative of the city’s History. As a result, alternative versions, images and imagined futures for São Paulo were co-created though these activities. The full process was documented and displayed in one of the exhibition spaces of Sesc Ipiranga Community Center.
