WHY ARE WE AFRAID OF THE STREETS?
Por que a rua dá medo? (Why are we afraid of the streets?) is a booklet that aims to investigate and amplify the debate on the reasons why public spaces in the city of Belo Horizonte are often perceived as unsafe for many of its inhabitants.
Through meetings and interviews with activists, scholars, public agents and people who are often targeted by violence, Micrópolis produced a publication which unravels and illustrates the dynamics of unsafety in public space.
1000 copies were printed and distributed among public schools, cultural centers and organizations that work for the protection of targeted groups, such as the LGBTQIA+, black, indigenous and non-male communities.
